Mary Kathryn Roberts is a New Jersey government affairs lawyer, lobbyist, and partner at Riker Danzig LLP who advises clients on legislative, regulatory, and administrative matters. She works across pharmaceuticals, banking, business law, insurance, education, technology, telecommunications, utilities, healthcare, cybersecurity, data privacy, and cannabis law. As a partner, she manages the Trenton office and represents organizations navigating state government and public policy. She serves as counsel to the New Jersey Bankers Association and chairs the State Bar Banking Law Section’s Legislative Committee.
Mary earned her B.A. cum laude from Boston College in 1988. She received her J.D. from American University, Washington College of Law in 1991. She gained early legal experience as a judicial law clerk to Judge L. Anthony Gibson in New Jersey’s Chancery Division. Before entering private practice, she served as chief of staff and legislative liaison for the New Jersey Department of Banking. She is admitted in New Jersey and before the US District Court for the District of New Jersey.

She speaks to banking professionals about foreclosure, consumer lending, predatory lending, and federal financial legislation. Her published work has examined the USA PATRIOT Act and ethical requirements governing federal advisory committees. She has served as vice chair of the Healthcare Administration Board and as a member of several professional organizations. Through these roles, she has helped clients and industry groups communicate their priorities to regulators and lawmakers.
Mary Kathryn Roberts has earned sustained recognition for her work in government relations and New Jersey business leadership. She has appeared in The Best Lawyers in America for Government Relations since 2008. Best Lawyers named her Princeton-area Government Relations Lawyer of the Year in 2012, 2018, and 2023. In 2024, she received the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce Private Sector Advocate Award. She joined ROI-NJ’s Government and Public Affairs Power List in 2025 and 2026.
