Mark R. Horton is an experienced attorney and the founder of Horton Law Firm, LLC, serving communities across New Mexico. With more than two decades of legal experience, he has built a strong reputation for providing effective legal representation in criminal defense law, DWI cases, family law matters, and estate planning at his law firm. Throughout his career, he has worked with individuals and families facing difficult situations who need clear legal guidance. Mark earned his J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1995. Before entering law school, he completed his higher education at several respected institutions. He earned bachelor’s and graduate degrees from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and the University of Maryland at College Park. His academic background provided a strong foundation in legal analysis, research, and public service that continues to guide his legal work today.

Mark began his legal career in private practice, handling wills, family law matters, and civil cases after earning his law degree. He later joined the New Mexico Public Defender Department, where he focused on criminal defense. Over the years, he served as a contract attorney for juvenile cases, a full-time Assistant Public Defender, and a member of the Albuquerque Felony Unit. He also worked in the statewide Capital Crimes Unit, gaining significant experience handling complex criminal cases and defending individuals’ rights throughout the state.

Mark R. Horton established Horton Law Firm, LLC, in 2020 to serve communities in southeast New Mexico. Through his firm, he represents clients in DWI defense, criminal defense, divorce, custody matters, and estate planning.
