Mark R. Bateman is a seasoned attorney and a partner at Young Wooldridge, LLP. He leads the firm’s Business Department, focusing on business and real estate law. Mark holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California, graduating magna cum laude in 1988. He later earned his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, in 1991, where he was recognized as a member of the Order of the Coif for academic excellence.
Throughout his career, Mark has played a key role in real estate development, asset acquisitions, construction projects, and environmental law matters. He has helped businesses navigate property title issues, mineral and water rights concerns, and financing transactions. His work with water districts has contributed to the management and allocation of critical water resources, benefiting both private businesses and public agencies. Before returning to Bakersfield in 2004, Mark spent over ten years at Morrison & Foerster’s Los Angeles office, honing his skills in high-stakes legal matters.
In addition to his legal practice, Mark R. Bateman is actively involved in professional and community organizations. He serves as an advisor and past chair of the Agribusiness Committee within the California Lawyers Association. He also plays a leadership role in the Kern County Farm Bureau and the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce, where he serves as General Counsel.
