About
Mark Foster is a seasoned criminal defense attorney who has dedicated much of his career to DUI defense. He began practicing law in 1983 and first served with the Vanderburgh County Prosecutor’s office. In 1985, he became a Magistrate in Vanderburgh Superior Court, Misdemeanor/Traffic Division. After leaving the bench in 1987, Mark concentrated his practice on criminal defense, with a strong focus on DUI cases and trial advocacy.
Mark graduated from the IU School of Law in Indianapolis in 1983, earning his Juris Doctor. His legal education prepared him for both courtroom litigation and judicial service. Soon after earning his law degree, he entered public service and quickly gained experience handling misdemeanor and traffic matters. This early foundation shaped his deep understanding of criminal procedure and DUI law.
Mark has spent decades advancing DUI defense through continued training and instruction. He is certified in the administration of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Standardized Field Sobriety Test. He is also a certified operator of the BAC DataMaster by National Patent Analytical Systems. Mark completed the Intoximeter EC/IR II Operator Training Course taught by Dr. Alfred Staubus, PharmD, PhD-2014, and the Drug Recognition Evaluation (DRE) course taught by Lance Platt.
Mark Foster continues to defend individuals facing serious DUI and criminal charges with skill built from judicial service, technical training, and decades of courtroom experience. Mark has lectured extensively for the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum, the Indiana State Bar Association, the Evansville Bar Association, and Trial Prep Seminars.com.
Mark has written and presented numerous DUI and criminal law programs, including ICLEF Annual DUI Defense Seminar 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and ICLEF Master Series DUI Seminar 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025. His published works include “Current State of DWI Defense; Inside the Minds: Trends in DUI Discovery,” 2011 Published by Aspatore, and “Defending DUI Vehicular Homicide Cases,” 2015, published by Aspatore. He has been recognized by Super Lawyers from 2011 through 2025 and Best Lawyers in Indiana from 2011 through 2025.
