Marilyn Bednarski

Marilyn Bednarski is a partner at MBL Law and a criminal defense lawyer with decades of trial experience. She began her career in 1983 as a death penalty defense lawyer in Los Angeles and joined the Federal Public Defender’s Office in Los Angeles in 1984 as counsel.

Marilyn is a graduate of Loyola Law School. She also earned her undergraduate degree in history and classical languages at UCLA. Her education supports her work in state and federal courts, where she handles serious criminal defense matters with careful preparation, strong research, and clear advocacy for her clients.

Marilyn has tried cases in state and federal courts and has handled more than one hundred federal jury trials. She has won six jury acquittals in a row and has also secured dismissals, reduced charges, and short sentences in complex fraud, securities, tax, money laundering, and defense technology cases.

Marilyn has been recognized as a Super Lawyers honoree in 2007 and from 2009 to 2014. She was named among the Top Women Attorneys in Southern California from 2012 to 2014. She is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and received the Johnnie Cochran Award in 2016.

Marilyn has also served as a faculty member at the National Criminal Defense College. Her case work includes major results in murder, aggravated assault, drug conspiracy, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, suppression, habeas corpus, and wrongful conviction matters. Her record shows strong investigative, motion-practice, negotiation, and trial-readiness skills in serious cases.
