Margaret M. Cassidy

Margaret M. Cassidy is the founder and managing attorney of Cassidy Law, where she advises businesses on federal government contracting, export controls, national security regulations, compliance, investigations, and related business issues. Margaret works with startups and established companies as they innovate, evaluate risk, structure relationships, sell to the federal government, operate internationally, and build compliance programs. Her practice emphasizes clear legal advice that can be integrated into business strategy and operations.

Margaret studied at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and earned a BS in Finance from Miami University. She also completed an appellate clerkship with the Ohio 12th Circuit Court of Appeals. She is admitted in Washington, DC and Virginia and inactive in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Her legal and finance background supports a practice that often combines contracting rules, corporate decision-making, regulatory compliance, investigations, and commercial planning.

Margaret’s experience includes guiding startups through substantial growth, negotiating government contracts, advising on the international sale of dual-use products, structuring business relationships, developing compliance programs, and defending clients in government investigations. Before founding Cassidy Law, Margaret served as Global Compliance Counsel for GE Transportation and as Government Ethics & Compliance leader at PwC U.S. Earlier in her career, she prosecuted corruption, fraud, homicide, and assault cases.

Margaret M. Cassidy serves as Chair of the D.C. Board of Professional Responsibility and holds leadership roles in business-law and national-defense organizations. Margaret has also been approved by federal and state governmental entities to serve as an independent monitor overseeing compliance and ethics programs and settlement obligations. She brings business, enforcement, compliance, and government-contracting experience to clients seeking practical guidance in highly regulated commercial environments.
