Mae C.M. Pochop

Mae C.M. Pochop is an attorney at Meierhenry Sargent LLP in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, whose practice focuses on municipal law, public finance, and real property matters. Mae earned a B.A. in Financial Economics, cum laude, from Gustavus Adolphus College, where she was a two-year captain and All-American on the women’s golf team. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of South Dakota School of Law as a Sterling Honors Graduate. Her legal education included national moot court and trial team competition, along with awards for brief writing, negotiation, moot court performance, and academic achievement in several law school courses.

Mae’s municipal work includes advising on municipal governance, contracts, real estate and development matters, zoning, land use, and other operational issues. In public finance, she assists municipalities and other public entities with bond issuances and other financing matters supporting infrastructure, development, and community needs. Her real property experience includes drafting and negotiating purchase agreements, leases, easements, and development agreements, resolving title issues, handling quiet title actions, and advising clients on zoning and land use matters.

Mae participates in the National Association of Bond Lawyers, South Dakota Municipal Attorneys Association, American Bar Association, and state and local bar groups. She serves as President of the State Bar of South Dakota Young Lawyers Section for 2025-2026 and previously served as a director. Mae C.M. Pochop combines municipal, public finance, and real property experience to help communities and private clients address transactions, development issues, financing needs, and local government legal requirements with practical guidance.
