Matt McCaulley is a partner at Redstone Law Firm in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and leads the firm’s Government Relations practice group. During the South Dakota Legislative Session, he represents clients full time at the State Capitol, and throughout the year he advises business and political clients on transactions, compliance, crisis management, and problem solving. Matt’s practice combines government relations with business law, allowing him to address legal, regulatory, political, and strategic issues for organizations and decision-makers.
Matt earned a B.A. degree from Sioux Falls College in 1994, a law degree from the University of South Dakota in 1997, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Sioux Falls in 2002. He was admitted to the South Dakota bar in 1997. His legal and business education supports work involving transactions, compliance, government policy, and organizational strategy. He has also served as an adjunct professor at the University of South Dakota School of Law teaching Modern Real Estate Transactions.
Matt’s professional background includes providing legal counsel to more than 500 South Dakota business clients and working on transactions ranging from $5,000 to $300 million. Over a 15-year period, he publicly registered for 58 South Dakota lobbying clients. His public-service experience includes election to the South Dakota House of Representatives in 2000 and 2002 and service as Chair of the House Judiciary Committee in 2003 and 2004, giving him direct experience with legislative process and policy development.
Matt has practiced at Redstone since 2004 and also serves in firm leadership as managing partner. His professional background spans law, business, legislative service, teaching, and community involvement. Matt McCaulley helps clients address government relations and business issues that require legal analysis, an understanding of South Dakota institutions, and attention to commercial objectives.
