Louis Y. Fishman

Louis Y. Fishman is a business lawyer who serves as counsel to Fishman Haygood L.L.P. and helped establish its distinguished regional business practice. His transactional work covers corporate law, securities, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, venture capital, and corporate governance. He has advised public companies, private businesses, investors, executives, and closely held enterprises on major financial and strategic decisions. His experience also includes resolving ownership disputes within family businesses and guiding clients through complex sales, financings, public offerings, and organizational changes.

Louis earned a B.B.A. from Tulane University in 1963 and an L.L.B. from Tulane Law School in 1965. He served as editor-in-chief of the Tulane Law Review and became a member of the Order of the Coif. He later earned an LL.M. from Yale Law School in 1966 as a Sterling Fellow. His academic training supported a long and influential career focused on sophisticated corporate transactions and complex securities matters.

He helped found Tulane’s Corporate Law Institute and has served on its planning committee since 1988. His leadership has included roles within the Louisiana State Bar Association’s corporation and business law section. He has also presented continuing legal education programs on ethics, professionalism, securities law, corporate law, and mergers and acquisitions for practicing attorneys.
