Loren Barr

Loren Barr is a partner at Barr & Douds Attorneys in Danville, California, where he focuses on estate and trust litigation, estate planning, and trust and estate administration. Now in his 29th year of estate and trust litigation, he has represented hundreds of clients in estate, trust, and elder abuse matters. Barr also has extensive experience drafting and administering wills and trusts and has served as an expert witness in elder abuse and trust cases involving complex disputes and fiduciary issues.

Barr earned a B.A. in History from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, in 1988 and a J.D. from Santa Clara University in 1996. During law school, he served as Managing Editor of the Santa Clara Law Review. Before entering private practice, he served on active duty in the United States Marine Corps from 1989 to 1993. His education, military service, and legal training prepared him for disciplined case analysis, courtroom advocacy, and the detailed work required in estate and trust disputes.

Barr worked at the San Francisco office of Pillsbury Madison & Sutro before joining his father, Edward Barr, to form Barr & Barr Attorneys in 1998. His career has centered on helping clients resolve disputes involving trusts, estates, elder abuse, and related fiduciary issues. Since 2004, he has been certified by the State Bar of California as a Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law, reflecting extensive experience and focused knowledge in this area of practice.

Loren Barr has been recognized as a Northern California Super Lawyer every year since 2008. He has also written about trust litigation and elder financial abuse for Contra Costa Lawyer, including articles published in 2008 and 2010. Barr is a member of the State Bar of California, Contra Costa County Bar Association, Estate Planning Council of Diablo Valley, and East Bay Trusts & Estates Lawyers.
