Lisa S. Bonsall

Lisa S. Bonsall is a Partner at McCarter & English, LLP, where she represents corporations, financial institutions, and mid-market businesses in commercial litigation, bankruptcy, and real estate disputes.

With decades of experience, Lisa has litigated complex cases nationwide, including patent and licensing disputes, fraud actions, shareholder controversies, construction claims, and contract and Uniform Commercial Code matters. Clients rely on her clear strategies and skilled advocacy in high-stakes disputes.

Lisa earned her J.D., cum laude, from Rutgers Law School in 1988 and her B.A., cum laude, from Douglass College, Rutgers University in 1983, where she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. She is admitted to practice in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Third and Fourth Circuits.

In her bankruptcy and restructuring practice, Lisa represents a diverse range of clients, including secured and unsecured creditors, bank agents, lessors, vendors, creditor committees, trustees, and receivers. She frequently handles out-of-court workouts, loan restructurings, and insolvency-related litigation involving avoidance actions, fraud, malpractice, environmental, employment, and shareholder issues.

Lisa played a significant role in high-profile Securities Investor Protection Act (SIPA) liquidations, including First Interregional Equity Corporation and BBS, and brokered the settlement that became the plan in the New Era bankruptcy.
