About
Liem Sokhon is an associate trial attorney at Waters, Tyler, Hofmann & Scott in New Albany. She focuses her practice on automobile and trucking litigation, premises liability, and construction litigation. Her work involves civil disputes where liability, evidence, damages, and procedural strategy require close attention. She is admitted in both Indiana and Kentucky and brings substantial courtroom experience from public-sector litigation into her current civil practice.
Sokhon earned a J.D. from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law. She received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Trial Practice and served as president of the Asian Pacific Law Students Association. She also participated in an international service-learning program in Cebu, Philippines, and was a Kentucky Legal Education Opportunity Scholar, experiences that complemented her trial-focused legal education.
Sokhon spent ten years with the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office, beginning as a law clerk and later serving as a trial attorney. She tried jury and bench cases, handled dispositive motions and evidentiary hearings, wrote appellate briefs, and presented oral arguments. In 2023, she became one of five supervisors in the Criminal Division, leading prosecutors, managing complex dockets, and mentoring attorneys while handling specialized court matters.
Liem Sokhon now applies that litigation background to civil defense matters involving vehicles, premises, and construction. Her experience with trials, hearings, motions, appellate work, and supervision provides a strong procedural foundation for contested cases. Licensed in Indiana and Kentucky, she works within a New Albany firm whose litigation practice serves clients across both states, bringing public-sector trial experience to complex civil disputes and pretrial strategy.
