Lewis N. Carter has spent more than four decades representing businesses and individuals in complex legal disputes. His practice includes general and commercial litigation, employment matters, healthcare disputes, ERISA litigation, securities arbitration, and construction law. He has advised banks, lending institutions, manufacturers, healthcare providers, and service companies facing difficult legal and business challenges.
Lewis earned a B.A. in Anthropology from Dartmouth College in 1973. He later studied Anthropology at the University of Texas before receiving a J.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1980. During law school, he served as Editor of the Oklahoma Law Review and was recognized through Orders of the Coif and Orders of the Barrister.
Lewis has extensive courtroom experience and has handled matters for both plaintiffs and defendants throughout his career. His work has involved business disputes, healthcare litigation, employment conflicts, and construction-related claims. Clients value his ability to prepare detailed legal strategies while remaining focused on practical solutions that support long-term business and personal interests.
Lewis also has significant experience handling securities arbitration matters. Over the years, he has represented clients involved in disputes connected to the securities industry and financial services sector. Lewis is also known for his mediation and settlement work. As a certified adjunct settlement judge for the federal court, he has assisted parties in resolving many disputes outside the courtroom. His experience as both a trial attorney and mediator helps him approach negotiations carefully while working toward balanced and effective resolutions for clients.
Lewis N. Carter has been admitted to practice before several courts, including the United States Supreme Court, the United States Tax Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He is also admitted before the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Western, and Northern Districts of Oklahoma, along with the Supreme Court of Oklahoma.
