Lewis N. Carter has built a long career representing businesses and individuals in complex disputes across Oklahoma. His practice includes commercial litigation, employment matters, healthcare claims, securities arbitration, construction conflicts, and banking cases. He has worked with manufacturers, lenders, healthcare providers, and service companies while handling both plaintiff and defense matters.

Lewis earned a B.A. in Anthropology from Dartmouth College in 1973. He later studied Anthropology at the University of Texas before receiving a J.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1980. During law school, he served as Editor of the Oklahoma Law Review and earned Orders of the Coif and Orders of the Barrister.

Lewis has more than forty years of courtroom and arbitration experience involving commercial and general litigation matters. He has served as first chair trial counsel in many disputes and regularly advises clients through mediation proceedings. His work covers banking, real estate, oil and gas, manufacturing, healthcare, and construction-related litigation.

Lewis also represents clients in employment and ERISA disputes, helping businesses address claims that can affect operations and reputation. His background in securities arbitration allows him to guide parties through complicated financial disagreements with careful preparation. He has handled matters for lending institutions, healthcare providers, and businesses facing high-stakes litigation.

Lewis has earned recognition for his legal work from respected organizations within the profession. He received an AV® Preeminent™ Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating and was included in Best Lawyers® for Commercial Litigation from 2013 to 2025. He was named to Super Lawyers® for Litigation and received the Oklahoma Bar Association – Pro Bono of the Year Award.

Lewis is also known for his work in mediation and settlement negotiations. As an adjunct settlement judge certified by the federal court, he has helped resolve numerous disputes outside the courtroom. His balanced approach, trial knowledge, and experience with plaintiffs and defendants allow clients to pursue practical solutions in difficult legal matters.
