Kurt Kerns is a nationally and internationally recognized criminal defense attorney with decades of experience handling high-profile and complex cases. As the founder of Kerns Law Group, with offices in Wichita, Dodge City, and The Hague, he has successfully defended clients in international crimes, federal violations, major drug offenses, and murder trials.
Kurt received his Juris Doctor after completing rigorous legal education and later pursued advanced training at the National Criminal Defense College. He is also a graduate and current faculty member of the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College, where he helps train the next generation of defense lawyers. His continued commitment to professional development underscores his reputation for excellence in the courtroom.
Over his career, Kurt has secured acquittals and favorable outcomes in some of the nation’s most challenging trials. In federal court, his clients have avoided conviction in ten consecutive jury trials. He has taken fourteen murder cases to verdict, with ten clients acquitted and two convicted only of lesser manslaughter charges. Kurt is also one of only twenty-six U.S. attorneys authorized to appear before the International Criminal Court in The Hague. His international advocacy includes defending Commander Vinko Martinovic in a landmark tribunal case.
