Kristen R. Alberione

Kristen R. Alberione is Senior Counsel and Chair of the firm’s Tax Group at Adler Pollock & Sheehan P.C. She advises businesses and individuals on federal and state tax resolution, corporate tax, partnership tax, and tax-exempt entities, including audits, appeals, collection issues, complex tax matters, and related client planning goals.

Kristen earned an LL.M. in Taxation from Boston University School of Law in 2006, a J.D. from Boston College Law School in 2003, and a B.S., magna cum laude, from Northeastern University in 1998. Her education supports her work in tax disputes, planning, compliance, corporate matters, and client service needs.

Kristen brings more than 20 years of tax experience to her practice. She has held senior private sector roles focused on audit oversight, tax compliance, transfer pricing, and financial modeling. She has worked with multinational corporations on cross-border tax planning, APA negotiations, mergers and acquisitions, and complex project management efforts.

Kristen helps clients manage difficult IRS and state tax matters. Before joining Adler Pollock & Sheehan, she served as Senior Tax Counsel at a boutique tax law firm in Providence. Her work included federal and state tax audits, U.S. Tax Court litigation, IRS litigation, and representation before state tax authorities.

Kristen has achieved favorable outcomes in federal and state tax disputes through audits, collections, and penalty abatement proceedings. She obtained a reduction of more than $2.5 million in federal tax liability through a negotiated IRS Appeals settlement in U.S. Tax Court litigation and handled complex partnership audit matters for clients.

Kristen R. Alberione also manages international tax matters, including transfer pricing strategies, cross-border transactions, and multi-jurisdictional compliance. She has litigated Rhode Island tax issues and served as a nominee witness for a Fortune 500 company before Canadian Crown Counsel regarding complex international corporate tax structures in business and tax disputes.
