Kim D. Cannon serves as Of Counsel in the Sheridan office, bringing decades of experience in complex litigation. Since joining the firm in 1974, he has represented clients across Wyoming in disputes involving natural resources, commercial law, construction, employment, personal injury, malpractice, securities, and significant asset divorce litigation. His work reflects both versatility and depth across numerous legal fields.
Kim earned his A.B., cum laude, from Dartmouth College in 1970 and his J.D. from the University of Colorado in 1974. That same year, he joined the firm, then known as Burgess & Davis, and became a partner in 1980. Admitted to practice in Wyoming, Kim has built a distinguished career marked by leadership and recognition, including service as President of the Sheridan County Bar and committee work with the Wyoming State Bar and American Bar Association.
Outside the courtroom, Kim is deeply involved in public service and community leadership. He has served on the Wyoming Environmental Quality Council, including as chair, and later on the Wyoming Commission on Judicial Conduct and Ethics. Kim’s leadership extends to key professional and local organizations, including the Dartmouth Lawyers Association, the Wyoming Trial Lawyers Association, and the Big Horn Equestrian Center Board of Directors. This broad community engagement showcases his long-standing commitment to civic responsibility, ethical legal practice, and professional development in Wyoming and beyond.
Kim’s skill and dedication have earned him recognition as an AV-rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, as well as inclusion in Best Lawyers in America, Mountain States Super Lawyers, and Who’s Who in American Law.
In 2007, Kim D. Cannon was inducted as a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, underscoring his reputation for excellence in advocacy. His career demonstrates a balance of professional achievement, civic leadership, and dedication to advancing the practice of law in Wyoming.
