Kenneth C. Howell

Kenneth C. Howell is a partner at Hawley Troxell and Co-Chair of the firm’s Banking group. His practice spans banking, creditor rights, bankruptcy, intellectual property, and real estate, with a particular emphasis on business transactions in the technology sector. He has represented clients in matters involving creditor compliance, loan documentation, intellectual property protection, licensing, and real estate financing and development.

Mr. Howell earned his Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from the College of Idaho in 1981 and later completed his Juris Doctor at the University of Idaho College of Law in 1984. While in law school, he served as Research Editor of the Idaho Law Review. In recognition of his professional contributions, the College of Idaho awarded him an Honorary Doctorate in 2008. He is admitted to practice law in Idaho.

With decades of experience, Mr. Howell has advised banks on compliance, deposits, collections, branch operations, and secured transactions. He has represented lenders in workouts, bankruptcy proceedings, and the collection of complex commercial loans involving agricultural operations, livestock, and real estate.

In the intellectual property field, Mr. Howell assists clients in protecting and enforcing trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, as well as drafting agreements to safeguard ownership rights. His real estate practice includes acquisitions, financing, development, and representation before zoning boards and local government entities.

Recognized for excellence, Kenneth C. Howell has been named to The Best Lawyers in America in banking, finance, and corporate law and was selected as “Lawyer of the Year” in 2018. He has also been included in Mountain States Super Lawyers for banking.
