Kelly Shaw

Kelly Shaw is a civil litigation attorney at Koch Law, P.C. Her work spans difficult disputes in courts and administrative proceedings, including matters that reach the appellate level. She represents clients before Wyoming and Colorado courts and federal tribunals, helping them develop clear arguments and navigate the procedural demands of litigation. Her practice draws on both courtroom advocacy and careful legal writing when a dispute requires a detailed response to the record and the law.

Kelly earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Colorado Law School and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She graduated near the top of her law school class. She later completed intensive trial advocacy and litigation training through the National Institute for Trial Advocacy and the National Attorneys General Training & Research Institute. That combination of academic preparation and practical training informs her approach to briefing, hearings, trials, and appeals.

Before joining the firm, Kelly began her career at the Wyoming Attorney General’s Office. Her reported cases include proceedings before the Wyoming Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and federal district courts. She has addressed issues involving public lands, environmental law, workers’ compensation, and other civil disputes. She has also given presentations on water use, uranium mining, and state responsibilities in environmental law, reflecting the range of legal questions she has handled.

Kelly received the Wyoming Attorney General’s exemplary legal writing award for an appellate brief and teaches legal writing at the University of Wyoming College of Law. She serves as a board member and vice chair of the Wyoming State Board of Continuing Legal Education and as executive director of the Wyoming Water Association. Kelly Shaw brings her writing, litigation, and teaching experience to clients facing consequential disputes in state and federal forums.
