About

Keith R. Stachowiak is a personal injury attorney with Murphy & Prachthauser whose practice includes substantial trial and appellate advocacy for injured clients. He has taken four cases to the Wisconsin Supreme Court involving liability, collateral source issues, insurance coverage, and immunity arising from a motor vehicle accident. His work reflects long experience with contested negligence and insurance questions that require careful legal analysis, persuasive briefing, and sustained advocacy through multiple levels of review.

Keith earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Marquette University Law School in 1983 after receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1979. He became a CPA in 1980. His accounting background adds a financial and analytical dimension to legal work involving damages, insurance, and complex factual records. His legal education supports the research, writing, and appellate skills developed throughout decades of litigation practice.

Keith has authored dozens of appellate briefs in addition to his Wisconsin Supreme Court work. His reported appellate matters include Thomas v. Bickler, Hansen v. Crown Controls, and Hop v. Hoechst Celanese. He has also handled pro bono appeals for individuals who prevailed in circuit court but needed appellate counsel. This experience demonstrates sustained involvement in legal issues that extend beyond initial trial proceedings and require close attention to precedent, preservation, and written advocacy.

Keith R. Stachowiak has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 2016 and in Wisconsin Super Lawyers since 2021. He is a Fellow of the Wisconsin Law Foundation and has served on the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Association for Justice. His combination of personal injury litigation, accounting training, and appellate experience supports clients in cases involving difficult questions of liability, coverage, damages, and legal interpretation at both trial and appellate levels.
