About
Kathleen Gasparian founded Gasparian Spivey Immigration in 2015 to combine strong legal advocacy with a people-focused approach. The granddaughter of immigrants, she grew up abroad as a “military brat” in South Korea and Australia. Inspired by her early exposure to diverse cultures and her work with international students and Fulbright scholars at Loyola University, she developed a clear path toward a career in immigration law.
Kathleen earned her J.D. from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2002 while attending its evening program. She was chosen for the Attorney General’s Honors Program and clerked for the Executive Office for Immigration Review in Oakdale, Louisiana. Before establishing her own firm, she practiced for more than a decade with David Ware & Associates and Ware|Gasparian, where she served as a partner and built a reputation for her thoughtful approach to complex immigration matters.
A committed advocate, Kathleen founded PB&J: Pro Bono & Juveniles in 2014 to recruit and train attorneys to represent immigrant children. For this work, she received the 2014 Super Lawyers Pro Bono Award, the 2015 Louisiana State Bar Association Children’s Law Award, and the 2015 Olga Vives Award from the National Organization for Women. She continues community leadership as Chair of the Louisiana Language Access Coalition and serves on boards for ISLA and the Federal Bar Association’s New Orleans Chapter.
Kathleen Gasparian is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, where she has held leadership roles at both the regional and national levels. She also teaches immigration law as an Adjunct Professor at Loyola University. Recognized as a Super Lawyer, a Top Lawyer by New Orleans Magazine, and a Leadership in Law honoree, she is respected for her expertise and unwavering commitment to immigrant rights.
