Kat earned her B.A. in Sociology from the University of New Mexico before receiving her J.D. from Drake University Law School. While in law school, she gained valuable hands-on experience as a Licensed Student Attorney at the Drake University Legal Clinic and as a law clerk at the Polk County Attorney’s Office. This foundation gave her both the academic knowledge and the practical skills to begin a versatile and client-focused legal career.

After graduating, Kat began her legal career as Associate Corporate Counsel at Century Automotive Service Corp., concentrating on contract drafting, review, and negotiation. She then joined McCarthy & Holthus, where she represented major banking institutions in residential foreclosure proceedings, efficiently managing a high-volume caseload while simultaneously completing her Executive M.B.A. Kat later served as a public defender in Gallup, New Mexico, gaining extensive courtroom experience in complex litigation and deepening her long-standing commitment to advocacy for underserved communities.

Today, Kat Fox is a valued member of New Mexico Financial & Family Law. She focuses her practice on family law and estate planning, where she combines legal skill with a compassionate, tailored approach.
