Jim Ryan

For nearly five decades, Jim Ryan has been a leading voice in Arizona estate planning, tax planning, probate, and business law. As a senior partner at Frazer Ryan Goldberg & Arnold, LLP, he has helped high-net-worth families and business owners design strategies to preserve wealth, transfer assets, and ensure smooth estate and trust administration.

Jim earned his J.D. from Arizona State University in 1974 after receiving his B.B.A. from the University of Iowa in 1971. Admitted to practice in Arizona the same year, he quickly established himself as an authority in estate and trust law. He has been a Certified Specialist in Estate and Trust Law since the inception of the certification program in Arizona.

Over his career, Jim has advised clients on complex estate matters, tax strategies, and succession planning for closely held businesses. He has guided clients through mergers, acquisitions, and real estate transactions while minimizing tax exposure. His leadership includes chairing the Arizona Trust Code subcommittee, serving on the Estate and Trust Advisory Commission, and shaping legislation that continues to benefit Arizona families.

Jim’s contributions extend beyond client service. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and has frequently lectured for professional associations and legal organizations. Recognized by The Best Lawyers in America®, Super Lawyers, and as a “Top 100 Lawyer” by AzBusiness Magazine, he also received the State Bar of Arizona’s Eleanor ter Horst Distinguished Service Award for his expertise and commitment to educating others.
