About

Justin Sparks is a Fort Worth criminal defense lawyer at Sparks Law Firm and a former assistant district attorney, and he has experience resolving and trying serious criminal cases. He began his career at the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, where he handled grand jury investigations, plea negotiations, hearings, bench trials, and jury trials. He managed thousands of cases and tried more than one hundred matters, building courtroom experience across Texas criminal proceedings and litigation.

Justin earned his B.B.A. from Baylor University in 2004 with majors in Economics and Real Estate. He received his J.D. from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, now Texas A&M School of Law, in 2007. After law school, he joined the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office as an assistant district attorney. His education and prosecution work strengthened his foundation in criminal law, evidence, negotiation, and trial preparation.

Justin moved into private practice after two years as a prosecutor, and he focused on state and federal criminal defense before becoming a partner. He opened his practice in 2015 and continued representing clients in matters ranging from DWI and misdemeanors to self-defense and federal charges. He uses experienced investigators, consultants, mock trials, and qualified experts when appropriate. His preparation reflects his emphasis on developing and testing effective defense strategies.

Justin Sparks has received recognition for his defense work, and he was selected as a Texas Super Lawyer from 2019 through 2022 after earlier Rising Star honors. He was named a Fort Worth Top Attorney from 2012 through 2022. He has spoken in the Dallas-Fort Worth area about self-defense, deadly force, and stand-your-ground issues. His experience, preparation, and professional involvement support informed advocacy for people facing criminal investigations and charges.
