Gary L. Medlin

Gary L. Medlin is the founding and managing attorney of The Medlin Law Firm and a Fort Worth, Texas criminal defense lawyer. Licensed since 1983, he represents clients in matters involving DWI, drug charges, assault and violent crimes, theft, fraud, sex crimes, and expunctions. Medlin brings decades of courtroom experience to his practice and focuses on providing clear guidance, careful case preparation, and practical defense strategies based on the facts and circumstances of each case.

Medlin earned a Bachelor of Science from Texas Tech University in 1979 and a Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1982. His education provided a strong foundation for legal analysis, advocacy, and courtroom practice. He is Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, reflecting substantial experience in the field and supporting his work in evaluating evidence, developing defense strategies, and preparing criminal cases for negotiation or trial.

Before entering private defense practice, Medlin served as an Assistant District Attorney in Tarrant County for nearly a decade, prosecuting criminal cases and gaining firsthand knowledge of how the government builds and presents its cases. He has owned The Medlin Law Firm since 1993. His background on both sides of the courtroom helps him anticipate prosecutorial strategy, assess the strengths and weaknesses of evidence, and prepare clients for important decisions throughout the criminal process.

Gary L. Medlin has also served the legal profession through leadership, education, and professional organizations. He previously served as president of the Tarrant County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and chaired the State Bar of Texas District Seven Grievance Committee. Medlin has contributed to professional materials and spoken on DWI defense topics, including breath testing and trial strategy.
