About
Justin Sluka is a workers’ compensation attorney at Sluka Law PLC in Woodstock, Vermont. He represents injured workers at every level of the state’s workers’ compensation process, helping clients pursue medical benefits and wage replacement after job-related injuries or illnesses. He is also an approved workers’ compensation mediator who assists parties in resolving difficult claims. His current practice concentrates on workplace injury benefits and disputes rather than general employment law.
Sluka earned a B.S. from Lehigh University in 2002 and a J.D. from Vermont Law School in 2005. He began practicing workers’ compensation law in 2005. His education and legal training preceded years of work on both sides of compensation disputes, including representation of employers and insurance companies before turning his attention to injured workers. That background helps him understand the different positions parties may take when a claim is contested.
Sluka has brought workers’ compensation claims against major Vermont employers, including UPS, Lowe’s, Walmart, and the State of Vermont. He has advocated in hearings and trials before the Vermont Department of Labor and in matters before the Vermont Supreme Court. His practice addresses disputed injury claims, denied benefits, medical treatment, and the financial effects of time away from work. He works with people employed in fields ranging from construction and delivery to health care and manufacturing.
Justin Sluka was named a New England Rising Star in Workers’ Compensation in 2015 and is a member of the Vermont Association for Justice. He has presented continuing education programs for lawyers and insurance professionals on compensation claims, settlements, and medical treatment issues. He has also served on local school boards. Through advocacy, mediation, and legal education, he brings experience with both contested claims and practical efforts to resolve them.
