Julia Markham-Cameron

Julia Markham-Cameron is an associate in the Securities and Complex Litigation group, where she focuses on high-stakes commercial litigation in both federal and state courts. Her practice includes trial and appellate advocacy, arbitration proceedings, and product liability and mass torts, often involving clients in banking, life sciences, fashion, insurance, and entertainment.

Julia earned her B.A. from Scripps College in 2013, graduating cum laude with Dean’s List honors. Julia later completed her J.D. at UCLA School of Law in 2019, with a specialization in Critical Race Studies. While at UCLA, she served as Chief Articles Editor of the Women’s Law Journal, Articles Editor for the Journal of International Law and Foreign Affairs, and earned membership in the Moot Court Honors Society and Order of the Barristers.

Julia has successfully defended clients in complex commercial disputes and advised on regulatory matters involving the U.S. Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission. Her litigation work spans multiple sectors and often involves multidimensional legal challenges requiring nuanced strategy and analysis.

Dedicated to public service, Julia Markham-Cameron maintains a robust pro bono practice. Julia has represented labor trafficking survivors in civil TVPRA claims and has advocated in cases defending voting rights and reproductive healthcare access. Her work during the COVID-19 pandemic, challenging executive orders that limited reproductive rights, earned her Dechert’s Samuel E. Klein Pro Bono Award and recognition from the Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights.

Prior to joining Dechert, Julia clerked for the California Attorney General’s Office of Torts and Condemnation. Before law school, she gained valuable experience as an associate at a public affairs firm, supporting nonprofit and startup marketing strategies. Julia Markham-Cameron continues to bring strategic insight, sharp litigation skills, and a passion for justice to every aspect of her practice.
