Cryne earned her J.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. She holds a B.A. in History from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, and an Arts degree from the P.E.O. College for Women at Cottey College in Missouri.

She led a Navy veteran through the process of gaining rapid citizenship because of his service. She also reunited a young boy with his mother after they had been parted for more than seven years in a Ugandan refugee camp. She helped a family in Guatemala win asylum, giving them a new start in the U.S. in Immigration Court.
Julia A. Cryne is admitted to practice before the Nebraska Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska, and the Executive Office for Immigration Review. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and serves on the Executive Board of the Robert M. Spire American Inn of Court.
