Joy N. Owenby is the founder and Senior Attorney of Owenby Law, P.A., based in Jacksonville, Florida. With a legal career built on dedication and client-centered service, Joy brings a wealth of experience in family law, estate planning, and criminal defense. Her mission is to provide individuals and families with strong, honest legal guidance through some of life’s most difficult challenges.
Joy Owenby earned her J.D. from Florida Coastal School of Law. She holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of North Florida and a B.S. from Florida State University.
Joy’s legal journey began in public service. She worked as legal counsel for Florida’s Guardian Ad Litem Program, where she represented children in cases involving abuse, neglect, and abandonment. Her early work helped give children a voice in court and gave her critical experience in family law. She also served as a judicial intern in the 4th Judicial Circuit and worked with the State Attorney’s Office in the Special Assault Division.
Today, Joy leads a firm recognized for its rapid growth and legal excellence. Owenby Law, P.A. has received honors from Law Firm 500, Inc. 5000, and Seminole 100. Joy herself has earned a 10/10 “Superb” Avvo rating and recognition from national groups like The National Trial Lawyers: Top 100 and the American Jurist Institute.
Joy Owenby is admitted to practice in Florida and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. She is also active in many legal associations including the Florida Bar, Jacksonville Bar Association, and the Florida Family Law American Inn of Court. Joy combines skill, compassion, and dedication to help her clients move forward with confidence.
