Joshua D. Zellmer

Joshua D. Zellmer is the Managing Partner of Myers Billion, LLP in Sioux Falls and has a diverse litigation and transactional practice. He focuses primarily on complex divorce, family law, commercial litigation, and general civil lawsuits and disputes, while also handling business transactions. He represents clients in state and federal courts throughout South Dakota and advises on disputes involving contracts, fraud, construction, real estate, tort claims, and high-asset family matters.

Joshua earned a Juris Doctor from the University of South Dakota School of Law and a B.A. in Communication Studies from the University of South Dakota. After law school, he served as a law clerk for South Dakota’s Sixth Judicial Circuit and later worked as a criminal prosecutor in the Rapid City area. These early roles developed courtroom, research, writing, and case-management skills that continue to support his civil and family litigation practice.

Joshua has more than 19 years of legal experience and has represented clients in every circuit in South Dakota. His family law work often involves complex or high-asset divorces with businesses, real estate, or substantial income. His civil litigation practice includes breach of contract, fraud, construction, real estate, and tort actions. He also advises on business formation, commercial leases, asset purchases, and real estate purchases, giving clients both litigation and transactional support.

Joshua D. Zellmer has received an AV Preeminent rating and the 2024 Toast of Trial Lawyers Award from the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association. He serves on State Bar family law and judicial liaison committees and is active in community organizations. His practice emphasizes responsive advice, careful preparation, and solutions tailored to the client’s circumstances, whether the matter requires negotiation, transaction planning, courtroom advocacy, or trial strategy.
