About
Josh Berg is a maritime attorney in Anchorage who represents clients in matters arising under the Jones Act and federal maritime law. His practice is informed by legal experience across Alaska, including work involving Alaska Native interests, land management, and natural resources. He has traveled to remote communities throughout the state, giving him practical familiarity with the geographic and industry conditions that can shape maritime work and injury-related legal issues.
Berg earned a J.D. with honors from George Washington University Law School in 2019 and a B.A. from Duke University in 2016. After law school, he moved to Anchorage to clerk for the Honorable Josie Garton of the Anchorage Superior Court. His legal education and judicial clerkship developed a foundation in legal analysis, court procedure, and written advocacy that supports his work on maritime claims and other complex Alaska matters.
Berg later joined the Solicitor’s Office at the U.S. Department of the Interior, where he worked on Alaska Native, American Indian, land management, and natural resource issues. He also served as in-house counsel at Arctic Slope Regional Corporation. These roles provided experience with government, corporate, and resource-related legal questions before he moved into maritime injury practice representing people whose claims arise from work on or around the water.
Josh Berg is admitted in Alaska, Washington, D.C., and New York and serves on the board of Alaska Public Media Inc. His background combines judicial, federal government, corporate, and maritime experience. That range helps him evaluate claims involving federal law, workplace conditions, and Alaska-specific circumstances while explaining legal options in a practical way to clients dealing with serious maritime injuries and related financial or personal consequences.
