Joseph H. Cohen

Joseph H. Cohen is Of Counsel at Seiller Waterman LLC, where he maintains a national commercial real estate and business practice. His work covers land acquisition, development, financing, operations, zoning, title issues, leasing, and condemnation proceedings. He represents clients in construction law, energy law, and business law. His practice combines transactional guidance with experience addressing disputes connected to real estate and commercial projects.

Joseph received his J.D. from Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville. He received Dean’s Scholarship Awards and American Jurisprudence Book Awards in Corporations and Torts. His academic recognition includes the University of Louisville School of Business Outstanding Student Award and membership in Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society.

Joseph advises property owners, developers, businesses, and other clients on commercial and retail real estate transactions. His work includes zoning and land use procedures, landlord-tenant matters, construction issues, energy matters, and corporate transactions. He has served on boards of organizations involved in real estate transactions. He served as general counsel to the Louisville Bar Association and Louisville Bar Center for 25 years. His published and notable cases include matters before Kentucky courts, federal district court, and the Sixth Circuit.

Joseph H. Cohen is admitted in Kentucky and before several federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court and U.S. Tax Court. His memberships include the Kentucky Bar Association and Louisville Bar Association. He has received an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell and multiple recognitions from Louisville Magazine. He received the Justice Martin E. Johnstone Special Recognition Award for more than 25 years of service as Bar Counsel.
