Joseph Carnevale

Joseph P. Carnevale IV is a partner at Savage Law Partners, LLP in Providence, Rhode Island. He focuses on construction litigation, business and civil disputes, and insurance defense. His work includes construction contracts, defective materials, mechanics’ liens, Miller Act bonds, private bonds, and public bidding disputes. He represents clients in Rhode Island and Massachusetts through court litigation, administrative proceedings, mediation, and arbitration involving commercial and construction matters.

Joseph earned a B.A. from Providence College and his Juris Doctor from Roger Williams University School of Law in 2013. He began his legal career as a judicial law clerk for the Appellate Division of the Rhode Island Workers’ Compensation Court under Chief Judge George Healy. This experience provided a foundation in court procedure and the analysis of contested legal claims. He later built his practice around construction disputes, contract enforcement, and insurance-related litigation.

Joseph has represented owners, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers on construction agreements and disputes. His experience includes drafting AIA contract documents, pursuing and defending breach of contract claims, dealing with bid protests, and representing parties before the Rhode Island Contractors’ Registration and Licensing Board. He has also worked on insurance coverage and bad faith cases and represented employers and insurers in workers’ compensation matters. Before joining his current firm, he was a partner at Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP.

Joseph P. Carnevale IV has written and presented continuing legal education materials on construction law and arbitration awards. He has served on the board of the Rhode Island Legal Education Foundation and as a panel arbitrator for Rhode Island public works matters. His practice combines contract drafting, construction industry knowledge, and dispute resolution to help clients manage claims connected to building projects and commercial obligations.
