David Hagan

David Hagan is an associate attorney at Friedman, Grimes, Meinken & Leischner PLLC in Alexandria, Virginia. He represents clients in family law and criminal defense, including divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, adoption, and property division. His litigation practice also covers protective orders, misdemeanor charges, traffic matters, and civil disputes. He works with families and individuals whose legal cases require attention to both immediate court proceedings and longer-term concerns.

David earned a B.S. in Psychology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2010 and a J.D. from George Mason University School of Law in 2018. While studying law, he served as a student advisor with the George Mason Veterans and Servicemembers Legal Clinic. There, he assisted veterans and their families with contract disputes, adoption matters, discharge upgrades, and consumer issues. His training supports his client-centered litigation work.

David handles litigation involving settlement agreements, prenuptial agreements, post-divorce disputes, and other domestic relations matters. He also represents clients in protective order proceedings and misdemeanor criminal matters such as traffic and assault cases. His work can extend to estate litigation and other civil concerns. By handling related proceedings, he helps clients understand the different court issues that may arise from a family dispute or criminal accusation.

David Hagan has served on the Virginia State Bar Council and as president of the Foundation of the Alexandria Bar Association. He received the Alexandria Bar Association’s Don F. Mela Distinguished Service Award in 2024 and has appeared on the Super Lawyers Rising Stars and Best Lawyers Ones to Watch lists. His community service includes legal aid and volunteer initiatives. He combines courtroom preparation with ongoing involvement in the Northern Virginia legal community.
