Jorge E. Alonso

Jorge E. Alonso, Esq., is a highly experienced criminal defense lawyer who has practiced in Miami for more than four decades. Since 1979, he has represented clients in both state and federal courts, handling a wide range of charges from misdemeanors to serious felonies. He has developed a reputation as a dedicated advocate with extensive trial experience, successfully guiding clients through some of the most challenging moments of their lives.

Mr. Alonso earned his B.A. from Florida Atlantic University in 1971 before completing his J.D. at Indiana University in 1979. Soon after, he was admitted to the Florida Bar and began his criminal defense practice. He is admitted to the Florida Supreme Court, the U.S. Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, and he regularly appears before state and federal courts. Fluent in both English and Spanish, he serves a diverse group of clients in South Florida.

With over 50 federal criminal trials and more than 60 state criminal trials to verdict, Mr. Alonso brings proven courtroom skill to every case. In addition, he has handled over 1,000 bench trials and administrative hearings, building unmatched knowledge of trial practice. His areas of focus include major crimes, drug offenses, DUI and other traffic-related charges, fraud, domestic violence, and driver’s license suspension matters. He is known for carefully preparing each case and fighting for the best possible result.
