Jonathon Kaplan

Jonathon Kaplan is one of California’s top trial attorneys, known for his strong courtroom presence and successful case outcomes. With over 30 years of legal experience, he specializes in employment law and civil rights cases, handling matters such as unpaid wages, overtime claims, workplace discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, and equal pay disputes. In addition, he has extensive experience in personal injury, product liability, business disputes, consumer warranty, and fraud claims. Jon earned his B.A. from Emory University in 1987. He then obtained both his J.D. and LL.M. from Duke University School of Law in 1990, graduating from a top-tier law school.

Jon began his legal career in 1990 at Lewis, D’Amato, Brisbois & Bisgaard, where he quickly advanced to equity partner. In 2002, he co-founded Kaplan Lee LLP, which later became Fair Employment Lawyers at Kaplan Weiss LLP in 2014. His firm protects workers’ rights and advocates for victims of unfair workplace practices.

Jon has won numerous jury trials and appeals, with some cases resulting in published opinions that set legal precedents. His aggressive trial strategy is well known, often leading to successful verdicts that maximize recoveries for his clients. He has served as a mediator, arbitrator, and Judge Pro Tem for the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
