Jonathan D. Nelson is a Partner who handles criminal defense matters for people facing serious charges. His services include Domestic Violence, Drug Crimes, DWI / DUI, Federal Crimes, Felonies, Misdemeanors, Traffic Violations, and Criminal Defense. He brings courtroom skill, steady guidance, and practical knowledge to each client’s case.
Jonathan graduated with honors from the University of Arkansas in 2000 with a degree in Criminal Justice. He also earned a law degree with honors from the University of Arkansas School of Law. While in law school, he served as a member and editor of the Arkansas Law Review.
Jonathan began his legal career in Dallas, Texas. There, he went up against some of the best attorneys in the nation, including the attorney who took the deposition of then President Bill Clinton. He also defended clients against attorneys for corporate giants State Farm and Allstate in court.
Jonathan’s work as a prosecutor and instructor helped him understand how police officers and prosecutors try to convict people of crimes. He later worked for one of the largest criminal defense law firms in Arkansas before opening his own law firm to help people in need every day.
Jonathan has vast courtroom experience and has tried more than 300 cases to verdict. He has also successfully argued cases before the Arkansas Court of Appeals. In addition, he teaches Criminal Law and Criminal Procedures at the college level, sharing his legal knowledge with students and future lawyers.
Jonathan D. Nelson is the author of a published article about federal and state constitutional protections against cruel and/or unusual punishment. His published cases include Szabo v. State of Arkansas, 470 S.W.3d 696 (Ark. Ct. App. 2015), and Meeks v. State of Arkansas, 479 S.W.3d 559 (Ark. Ct. App. 2016).
