John Sandweg is a partner at Nixon Peabody LLP and leader of the firm’s Cross-Border Risks team. Before entering private practice, John served in senior leadership positions within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), including Acting Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Acting General Counsel of DHS. At ICE, he oversaw 20,000 employees across 47 countries, leading missions related to immigration enforcement, cybersecurity, trade, and intellectual property. At DHS, he advised top federal officials on strategic policy and legal decisions with national and global implications.
