John Fox Arnold

John Fox Arnold focuses on corporate law, public finance matters, redevelopment projects, and government-related transactions. Over many years in practice, he has advised public agencies, developers, and business clients on complex legal issues involving acquisitions, financing structures, and construction projects. His work has supported major commercial and urban development efforts across Missouri.

John earned his A.B. from the University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri, in 1959. He later earned his LL.B. from the University of Missouri School of Law, Columbia, Missouri in 1961. His legal education provided the foundation for a career handling corporate transactions, securities matters, public financing, and governmental legal work for many decades.

John has represented clients in bond counsel, underwriter’s counsel, and special counsel matters connected to general obligation and revenue bond obligations. He has also handled transactions involving sales tax rebates, tax abatements, and tax increment financing. Billions of dollars have been invested in projects where he served in a legal advisory role.

John has guided legal matters tied to transportation projects, sewer district improvement programs, lease financings, and interstate bridge transactions. His experience includes work connected to rail projects and tax credit transactions in downtown redevelopment efforts. He has also advised public entities during large financing and infrastructure matters involving long-term regional planning.

John has been recognized by peers and legal organizations throughout his career. He has been included in The Best Lawyers in America® for Corporate Law since 2005 and was selected as the Lawyer of the Year for St. Louis in Corporate Law in 2016. In 2019, he received the ICON Award from Missouri Lawyers Media.

John has also contributed to legal and civic organizations through leadership and public service roles. He served with professional associations, government review commissions, and community planning initiatives connected to downtown development and legal reform. His experience additionally includes service as an arbitrator for financial and commercial dispute matters before national arbitration organizations.
