John D. Hawkins

John D. Hawkins is the founder and CEO of HawkLaw in South Carolina. His litigation practice includes personal injury, car accident, workers’ compensation, Social Security Disability, administrative law, and criminal law matters. Hawkins has focused his career on courtroom advocacy and represents clients facing injuries, benefit disputes, and other legal challenges. His firm serves clients from offices including Greenville, Spartanburg, Columbia, Charleston, and Anderson.

Hawkins earned his J.D. with honors from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1994, where he served on the Law Review and was a member of the Order of Wig and Robe. He earned his B.A. from Wofford College in 1991 and graduated Phi Beta Kappa. His academic training provided a foundation for litigation, legal analysis, and advocacy across a range of civil, administrative, and criminal matters.

Hawkins began developing courtroom experience through clerkships with the South Carolina Supreme Court and a South Carolina Circuit Court. He later served for 23 years in the South Carolina Army and Air National Guard, rising to the rank of Major and gaining additional legal experience as a JAG officer. His career has also included service in the South Carolina House of Representatives and eight years as a South Carolina State Senator.

John D. Hawkins is admitted to practice in South Carolina, the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. His background combines private litigation, judicial clerkships, military legal service, and public office. This broad experience supports his work helping clients address personal injury claims, workers’ compensation matters, disability issues, and other disputes requiring practical legal guidance.
