Eric H. Sills

Eric H. Sills is a criminal defense lawyer at Gerstenzang, Sills, Cohn & Simone, PLLC, whose practice focuses on DWI defense in New York. He represents clients facing alcohol-related driving charges and brings extensive knowledge of New York DWI law to his work. He is Board Certified as a specialist in DUI Defense Law by the National College for DUI Defense and has built a practice centered on detailed preparation, courtroom advocacy, and sophisticated defense strategy statewide.

Eric earned his J.D. from Boston College Law School in 1992. While in law school, he served as a Production Editor on the Boston College Environmental Affairs Law Review. His legal education and editorial experience helped develop the research, writing, and analytical skills that support his criminal defense practice. Since graduation, he has continued expanding his knowledge through professional teaching, writing, and focused work in DWI defense matters statewide today.

Eric co-authored Handling the DWI Case in New York with Peter Gerstenzang and has written extensively on DWI defense. His work includes articles in The Champion, the Public Defense Backup Center Report, and New York DWI Bulletin, along with materials used by the New York State Office of Court Administration Judicial Training Program. He also lectures regularly on DWI topics for attorneys and other legal professionals throughout New York State.

Eric H. Sills serves on the faculty of the National College for DUI Defense and is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers’ DUI Committee. He previously served on the Committee on Character and Fitness for the Third Judicial District from 2005 through 2015. His professional recognition includes Best Lawyers’ Albany DUI/DWI Defense Lawyer of the Year honors in 2015 and 2022, along with listings in other legal publications.
