Matthew J. Simone

Matthew J. Simone is a partner at Gerstenzang, Sills, Cohn & Simone, PLLC. His practice focuses on DWI defense, criminal defense law, civil litigation, personal injury, and vehicle and traffic matters. He represents clients facing impaired driving charges, traffic-related offenses, and other criminal or civil disputes. He brings experience from both defense and prosecution settings, along with a practical understanding of New York court procedures and litigation strategy in varied matters.

Matthew earned his J.D. from Albany Law School in 2013 and his B.A. from Binghamton University in 2010, where he majored in financial management. As an undergraduate, he was a Division I scholarship athlete and served as captain of the baseball team during his senior year. While in law school, he interned with the Schenectady County Public Defender’s Office and the Albany County District Attorney’s Office during his studies there.

Matthew worked as an associate attorney at a local law practice before joining the firm. His work there included DWI defense, criminal and civil litigation, personal injury, and vehicle and traffic matters. That experience helped him develop familiarity with a range of courtroom and case-management issues. He was admitted to practice law in New York in January 2014 and later entered federal practice in the Northern District of New York.

Matthew J. Simone was admitted to the US District Court for the Northern District of New York in June 2015. His practice continues to center on DWI defense, criminal and civil litigation, personal injury, and vehicle and traffic matters. By combining prior litigation experience with focused defense work, he assists clients in navigating charges, claims, and court proceedings that may involve significant legal, financial, licensing, or personal consequences throughout New York today.
