John Cotton has dedicated more than three decades to representing clients in personal injury and wrongful death cases. His extensive courtroom experience includes practice in both state and federal courts, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. From the beginning of his career, he has been committed to ensuring that clients receive skilled and compassionate advocacy during challenging times.

John began his education at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana, where he completed a Bachelor of Science in 1978. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the University of Wyoming College of Law in 1983. Following graduation, he worked as a law clerk for both the State District Court and the Federal District Court for the District of Wyoming, serving in those roles from 1983 through 1987 before transitioning to private practice.

John’s admission to the Wyoming State Bar Association in 1983 marked the start of his legal career. He is also admitted to practice before the Federal District Court for the District of Wyoming and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Since 1987, he has focused exclusively on representing individuals and families in cases involving significant injuries and wrongful deaths, bringing forward claims with diligence and persistence on behalf of those he serves.

John’s work and dedication have earned him recognition in the legal community. He received the BV Rated distinction from Martindale-Hubbell in 2016, reflecting strong legal ability and ethical standards. That same year, he was honored as a Super Lawyer by Super Lawyers. Earlier in his career, in 2000, he received the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America, highlighting his long-standing service and commitment beyond the courtroom.
