John Bash is widely known for his work in appellate litigation and internal investigations, supported by significant experience in federal government service. His career includes leadership roles handling complex legal matters, constitutional questions, and high-stakes litigation. Through public service and legal advocacy, he has worked on cases involving regulatory policy, criminal law, and national security issues.

John built his academic foundation through rigorous study and recognized scholarly achievement. He attended Harvard University (A.B., summa cum laude, History and Literature, 2003), earning honors including Phi Beta Kappa and the Thomas T. Hoopes Prize for Undergraduate. He later completed Harvard Law School (J.D., magna cum laude, 2006), where he served as an Articles Editor for the Harvard Law Review and received the Joseph H. Beale Prize for Conflict of Laws.

John developed extensive appellate advocacy experience during his service in the United States Department of Justice. As an Assistant to the Solicitor General, he argued eleven cases before the Supreme Court of the United States and prepared numerous merits briefs addressing complex federal questions. His responsibilities also included advising on appeals and collaborating with federal agencies on important legal matters.

John’s legal work in the Solicitor General’s Office addressed a wide range of federal law topics. His matters included energy regulation, intellectual property disputes, taxation, employee benefits law, national security concerns, and criminal litigation. Through this role, he helped guide federal litigation strategy and provided legal analysis on significant government cases.

John later served as the United States Attorney for the Western District of Texas, supervising federal prosecutions across a large and active judicial district. His responsibilities included overseeing criminal enforcement matters and managing complex investigations across multiple cities and regions within the district.

John also represented the United States in civil litigation, including cases involving healthcare providers, government contractors, and False Claims Act enforcement. His leadership included participation on the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee and involvement with subcommittees addressing national security and white-collar crime enforcement.

John Bash continues to contribute to the legal community through professional organizations, including the Lloyd Lochridge American Inn of Court and the Edward Coke Appellate Inn of Court. He is also a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, reflecting his ongoing commitment to the advancement of legal advocacy and public service.
