Joe Jacobson

Joe Jacobson is a shareholder at Jacobson Press P.C. in Clayton, Missouri. His practice focuses on civil appeals and business disputes, with additional work involving business contracts and the purchase and sale of commercial real estate and privately held businesses. Jacobson represents both plaintiffs and defendants in complex civil matters and also serves as a mediator and arbitrator. His work combines trial advocacy, appellate practice, transactional counseling, and dispute resolution for businesses and individuals.

Jacobson earned his J.D. magna cum laude from Boston University School of Law in 1986 and his B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis in 1983. His legal education provided a foundation for a career involving complex litigation, appellate advocacy, and commercial transactions. He is admitted in Missouri, Illinois, and the District of Columbia, as well as before the U.S. Supreme Court and numerous federal appellate and district courts.

Jacobson has tried more than 75 cases to verdict or judgment and has served as primary attorney in approximately 100 appeals. His matters have involved partnership and fiduciary claims, contract disputes, real estate development, fraud, RICO, patent issues, securities litigation, workplace injuries, and other business conflicts. He also served as General Counsel to the Housing Authority of St. Louis County from 1998 to 2023, advising on litigation, contracts, bond issues, real estate transactions, and employee benefit plans.

Joe Jacobson is certified as a civil mediator under Missouri Supreme Court Rule 17 and completed the Advanced Arbitration Academy of the USC-JAMS Arbitration Institute. He is an approved neutral for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri and has held leadership roles with the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. His experience in trials, appeals, mediation, arbitration, and business transactions supports practical guidance for clients facing complex commercial and civil disputes.
