About
Jerry B. Grimes is an active partner at Barnes, Grimes, Bunce & Fraley, PLLC in Lexington, North Carolina. He focuses almost exclusively on criminal defense, representing clients in matters ranging from major felonies and misdemeanors to DWI charges and traffic violations. His practice is grounded in decades of courtroom experience and a commitment to individualized, honest, and persistent representation for people facing serious legal consequences.
Grimes earned his J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1963 after receiving a B.S. from Wake Forest University in 1961. His legal education provided a strong foundation in analysis, advocacy, and courtroom procedure. Combined with more than six decades in practice, that training supports his ability to evaluate criminal charges, identify important legal and factual issues, and guide clients through each stage of the defense process.
Grimes began practicing law with Beamer Barnes in September 1963 and helped establish Barnes & Grimes the following year. He first handled a general law practice before shifting his work toward criminal cases, with particular emphasis on DWI defense. His experience includes defending clients against felony and misdemeanor accusations and addressing traffic matters that may affect driving privileges, insurance costs, and personal freedom.
Jerry B. Grimes is admitted to practice in North Carolina and before the US District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina and the Supreme Court of the United States. He has also participated in state and national trial and criminal defense organizations. A United States Marine Corps veteran, he supports several veterans’ groups and brings long-standing community ties, practical judgment, and extensive criminal law experience to his client service.
