Jerrell R. Johnson

Jerrell R. Johnson is a highly respected Virginia Beach criminal defense attorney with more than 15 years of legal experience. As the founder of JRLaw, PLC, he represents adults and juveniles charged with serious criminal and traffic offenses throughout Southeastern Virginia. Jerrell earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Mount Olive in 1990, where he also played baseball on scholarship. He later earned his Juris Doctor from Regent University School of Law in 2004, balancing his legal studies with full-time duties as a police officer. His unique background enables him to combine legal knowledge with the insight gained from 15 years of experience in law enforcement.

Before practicing law, Jerrell served as a decorated officer with the Virginia Beach Police Department. Named Police Officer of the Year in 2001, he earned more than 50 Letters of Commendation during his career. This experience provided him with an invaluable perspective on police procedures, investigations, and courtroom strategy, which he now uses to build strong defenses for his clients.
