Jennifer L. Hodge Burkett

Jennifer L. Hodge Burkett has more than 18 years of experience guiding clients through real estate and corporate matters. She regularly advises on acquisitions, leasing, construction, and development of commercial, industrial, agricultural, and retail properties. Her work extends to energy projects, including wind, solar, wireless, and pipeline site control.

Jennifer began her academic path at the University of Iowa, where she earned her B.S. in 1999. She went on to complete her J.D. in 2002 at the University of Iowa College of Law. Licensed to practice in Iowa since 2002 and Illinois since 2014, she is equipped to assist clients on complex property and business matters across state lines.

Jennifer helps developers draft, negotiate, and enforce land use agreements—including covenants, restrictions, and easements—for residential and commercial real estate projects. She also advises clients on title review, title insurance, and abstracts, providing clear, practical strategies to protect investments, secure project approvals, and maintain regulatory compliance. In addition, Jennifer regularly serves as local Iowa counsel, issuing local opinions for companies that own or operate property in the state.

Jennifer also helps corporations, partnerships, and limited liability companies with formation, operations, contract matters, and dissolution. She facilitates mergers, asset transfers, and stock sales, ensuring smooth transitions during corporate changes. Additionally, she has experience advising national and regional banks on real estate elements of financing and acquisitions.

Jennifer provides strategic support for clients in highly visible infrastructure projects. Her work includes assisting pipeline companies with complex property interests, advising telecommunications providers on leasing issues, and supporting electric transmission projects on regulatory compliance.
