About
Jennifer H. Carroll is a seasoned attorney and partner at Newland & Newland, LLP, with extensive experience in foreclosure defense and civil litigation. Since joining the firm in 2012, she has helped hundreds of Illinois homeowners avoid foreclosure and retain their properties through loan modifications, reinstatements, and successful litigation strategies.
Jennifer earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Oregon State University and her Juris Doctor from the University of Oregon School of Law. During law school, she interned with the Lane County Legal Aid Clinic and the Benton County District Attorney’s Office, gaining experience in eviction defense, benefits cases, and criminal prosecutions. She was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 2008 and to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in 2013.
Jennifer’s legal practice focuses on defending foreclosure actions, negotiating dignified exits, and obtaining favorable resolutions for clients—including deficiency waivers and relocation funds through cash-for-keys settlements. Jennifer has achieved dismissals with prejudice and helped negotiate home retention options even after judicial sales, demonstrating her effectiveness in high-stakes foreclosure litigation.
In addition to foreclosure matters, Jennifer handles probate litigation, estate planning, and general commercial litigation. She served as Chair of the Lake County Foreclosure Help Desk from 2017 to 2019, offering pro bono support to homeowners facing foreclosure, and is actively involved in the Association of Women Attorneys of Lake County.
Jennifer H. Carroll practices throughout Cook, Lake, McHenry, DuPage, Will, and Kane Counties. She is a recognized Elite Lawyer (2025–Present) and a respected figure in the legal community. Her dedication to client advocacy and her skill in resolving complex financial and property matters make her a trusted legal resource across the greater Chicago area.
