Jennifer A. Cusack

Jennifer A. Cusack is a Partner in the Albany, New York office of Hinman, Howard & Kattell LLP. Her practice focuses on Medicaid planning, estate planning and administration, elder law, guardianships, and commercial and residential real estate. She helps clients create personalized estate plans designed to manage assets, reduce estate tax exposure, and protect property from long-term health care costs while addressing future family and financial needs.

Jennifer earned a J.D. from Albany Law School of Union University in 1990 and a B.A. from the College of the Holy Cross in 1987. Her legal education provided a foundation in estate planning, trust administration, property law, and client counseling. That training supports her work preparing detailed planning documents, guiding families through administration matters, and helping clients understand the legal options available when planning for aging, disability, and asset protection.

Jennifer drafts wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, health care proxies, living wills, and durable powers of attorney. She also administers wills and trusts and helps clients create and manage Special Needs Trusts so disabled individuals can preserve access to government benefits. Her Medicaid work includes preparing applications for clients seeking eligibility for benefits in the community or in nursing homes. She also assists clients pursuing guardianship for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Jennifer A. Cusack is admitted in New York and before the US District Court for the Northern District of New York. Her professional memberships include the New York State Bar Association, Albany County Bar Association, and Rensselaer County Bar Association. She serves on the scholarship committee of the Holy Cross Club of Northeastern New York and previously served on the boards of The ARC of Rensselaer County and the Troy Waterfront Farmers’ Market.
